Buchan Consulting Finishes its First Year as an HTA Gold Award Recipient

The Home Technology Association was founded to help homeowners and home design and building professionals find qualified home technology installation firms for their home construction projects.

The Home Technology Association Certification system is the first and only industry standard of excellence for home technology installation companies. In an industry that has no barriers to entry, the HTA has created a rigorous set of standards

for home technology companies to adhere to. The firms that meet the 60+ points of evaluation criteria are granted certification status. Once HTA Certified, these firms must commit to maintaining the high standards of HTA Certification or risk losing certification.

Buchan Consulting LLC is one of only 135 firms nationally to achieve this certification and one of only 3 in the Chicago market. We’re proud of our documented and verified ability to work well with others to complete projects that meet both Buchan Consulting’s quality standards and those of independent organizations like CEDIA and HTA.

All HTA Certified companies meet the following criteria:

• Ownership and management team must have 3+ years of successful business performance
• A stellar reputation in the marketplace
• A demonstrated history of technical competence
• A demonstrated history of providing high-quality aftercare service
• No significant litigation history
• Do not have tax liens
• At least $1M of liability insurance
• Have not filed bankruptcy in at least the past 5 years
• Must perform background checks on all new employees
• Agree to provide a copy of control system programming code to client
• The ability to deliver high-performance enterprise-grade computer networks
• Endorsements from at least three manufacturers
• Endorsements from at least three local industry professionals
• Endorsements from at least three design/build professionals *
• Have Worker's Compensation insurance if required by state
• The ability to deliver engineering documentation and as-built drawings (Estate & Luxury tiers only)
• The ability to deliver high-performance theater acoustical design (Estate & Luxury tiers only)
• A demonstrated history of delivering a high-quality home automation experience (Estate & Luxury tiers only)
